First Two Day Match completed with huge success

For the first time in the History of Bhutan Cricket, Two Day match was played in the Capital city of Bhutan Thimphu on 25th and 26th November 2006 between the Winner of Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006, Friend United and second postition Youth11.The match was one sided as Friend united after winning the toss elected to bat first dominated the first day with brilliant batting performance from D.S.Gurung with 77 not out, Tshering Dorji and Ugyen Dorji Contribute with 30 and 24 respectively, Friend's United were bowled out for 242 in 62 overs.

Babu of Youth11 claimed hat trick in the 55th overs to create record in the books as the first bowler to take hat trick in the Bhutan Cricket Tournament, Youth11 batsmen couldn't find the rhythm of scoring runs when on the close of 1st day play, they were three wicket down for 50 runs on the board, on the start of second day play, friend united struck in the first over to dismiss yet another Youth11 Batsmen, there were brilliant catch to back up the bowler as D.S Gurng rattled the tail ender with five wicket hauls to credit with 77 runs , he was on hat trick on the 4th ball of his over when Nima Sherpa block with solid defence to deny him but he bowled him out next ball. Youth11 couldn't resist much as they were dismiss for 97 runs. Youth11 were enforced follow by the Friend United captain when they were trail by 146 runs, their second innings didn't start well off when their opening batsmen couldn't face the fast bowler Thinley Jamtsho who fired up with fast delivery, youth11 crumble to yet another batting debacle in the second innings thanks to the brillinat slip catch from Tobgay Wangchuk and Kencho, youth11 were all out for 99 runs before the scheduled tea intervals. Friend united won by a inning and 46 runs, D.S.Gurung was adjudge the man of the match for his 77 runs and 6 wicket in the match.Youth11 Skipper subash said that "this was a learning experience for us as the game was different with one day, our batsmen need to be more relax while batting and should try and stay in the center as long as possible", Jigme N Norbu the Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Cricket complimented both teams for showing a great match, "it was an fantastic two day match which boost the emerging of young talent in Thinley Jamtsho and Dilip Kuamr as future cricketer of Bhutan Cricket". At the end it was a good experience for the both teams as it showed different scene and playing condition which can suits later on when such matches are organized by the Bhutan Cricket in years to come.

Bhutan Cricket Announced Under-15 Squad

20 November, 2006- The Bhutan Cricket Selection Committee comprising of Chief Executive Officer, Jigme N Norbu along with Coach and Assistant Coach today name out the final 14 players for the ACC Under-15 Challenge Cup to be held in Thailand from 13th Dec-23rd December 2006. Jigme Singye was named the Captain and Kencho Norbu as Vice-Captain.

A News report from Bhutan Cricket said that the coaching has been halt due to the exam and will resume later end of this month. The following are the selected under-15 National Squad.

Youth11 Clinch Second Spot From Bhutan Telecom

In what would have been an encounter for the second place in the Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006, played yesterday in Thimphu Cricket Ground Between Youth11 and Bhutan Telecom, Youth11 won the Match comfortable by 74 runs to clinch the second position behind Friend United. Youth11 opted to Bat first after winning the toss started brilliantly when opening Batsmen Tashi scored his Maiden Half Century, his inning was all composed with some beautiful cover drive, full shot, and leg glance, he added 100 odd runs partnership with Dorji Dakpa for third wicket and another 30 runs with Ganga , when the things were going well for him, a smart work by wicket Keeper to stumped him out for well deserve 57 runs, rest batsmen couldn't add much runs to their total runs of 184 runs in their allocated 40 overs.

Bhutan Telecom could have done better in the field had they caught hold of dolly catches and restricted extras which was their drawback through out the series.
Bhutan Telecom Opening pairs in Skipper Dorji and Jigme Singye were going nicley and runs were coming thick and fast, at one times 184 runs chase would be achieve before 30 overs the way they were playing, Jigme Singye was bowled out from an in swing ball which turn the course of match in favor of Youth11, when Skipper Dorji was run out for silly mistake in calling between the non striker end, Youth11 were literally in confident and bowled out Bhutan Telecom for 110 in 36.1 overs. Youth11 scored vital 2 points and achieved bonus point as well to clinch the second place in Zimdra Vanaspati Cup. As we get closer to the end of Zimdra Vanaspati Cup, 2006, with IMTRAT team forfeting all the remaining Match and Bhutan Telecom to play Youth11 for 2nd spot as Friend's United by Virtue of winning all the Match against three team will be crown champion later this week. Bhutan Times Suffered yet another Blow

Bhutan Times after two heavy defeat from Bhutan Telecom and Friend's United suffered yet another defeat from the hands of Youth11, Bhutan Times after winning the toss send their opposing to bat first in due outfield, Ashish the Bhutan Times Skipper decision paid off when he bowled magic spell to rattle the Youth11 top order batsmen taking 5 wickets haul for 18 runs.Youth11 were under sever pressure when the score was just 33 on the board with six wicket down, Skipper Subash and Dilip Kumar stick in the center to add 40 runs partnership to take the score to 88 when subash was caught behind chasing wide delivery. Bhutan Times bowler Dawa compliment Skipper Ashish to wrap up the tail ender with three wicket, Youth11 were all out for 105 runs in 33 overs. Bhutan Times fielding was backed by brilliant run out but let down by extras which cost them the match.

Youth11 opening bowler couldn't damage much to Bhutan Times Batsmen when they conceeded far more extras than runs from Batsmen willow, skipper subash introduced leg spinner sonam tobgay who scalped sushil sharma luitel, when things were going well for the Bhutan Times,
spinner Dorji Dakpa bowled heart out to take two quick wicket in his first overs to finished his figure of 4 wicket for 8 runs.Skipper Subash finished with impresive figure of 4 wicket for just 10 runs to all out Bhutan Times for 62 runs, 44 runs short of victory.None of the Bhutan Times Batsmen crosed two figure mark. Friend's United Mauled Bhutan Times

As the 3rd week of Zimdra Vanaspati underway yesterday with Friend’s United Taking on Bhutan Times Club In Changlimithang Cricket Ground.Friend’s united after winning the toss elected to bat first with opening pair Ugyen Dorji and Tobgay gave a good start for their opening partnership of 73 runs, they worked the ball well in and around the ground with some beautiful drive and pull shot. Ugyen Dorji after scoring 24 runs feel to Dawa to bowled him out.In formed batsmen Tshering Dorji walk in for quick fire but feel cheaply to Dawa caught by Promod in the Point, a replay out for Damber Singh Gurung of the Dawa bowling, Tobgay Wangchuk the set batsmen couldn’t read the flipper of Sushil Sharma to be trapped Leg Before wicket.

New batsmen Skipper Ugyen Tenzin and Jigme N Norbu were in middle when the Bhutan Times Bowler felt the chance of getting another wicket, when Ugyen teznin was bowled out by Tashi,Jigme N nrobu anchored the Friend’s United innings with some blistering shot both of back foot and front foot when he was caught of promod shot bowled for a acrobat catch by wicket keeper Narayan.
Tail ender of Friend’s United batsmen couldn’t do much help in updating score when Bhutan Times bowler gave away 60 odds extras to top score for the match, when wicket tumble from the striker end, Tshering Tashi walk in to carry form where he left last Saturday against Bhutan Telecom to hit three fours and score of 15 not out in the end. Friend’s United were all out for 186 in 34 overs. Bhutan Times bowling attack was not at all discipline when the entire bowler conceded wides and no ball, Dawa Top the wicket list with three, rest bowler shared a wicket each with runout.their ground fielding was not up to the standard, yet said and done Bhutan Times Players were played as team with all round cheers throughout the fielding.

As Bhutan Times Innings started with opening batsmen Roshan and Tashi walk into the middle for the chase, Friend’s United opened the bowling attack with Ugyen Dorji and Damber Singh Gurung. Both the Bowler contend the Bhutan Times batsmen from scoring runs, Ugyen Dorji strike for Friend’s United as he bowled Tashi in 3rd overs, at other end Dambe Singh Gurung bowled heart out, both the strike bowler shared seven wickets between them with Damber Sigh Gurung taking four wickets. All the Bhutan times batsmen struggled to score runs when wicket feel overs after overs, Skipper Ugyen Tenzin wrapped up the Bhutan Times inning with three wickets in the end to bowled them out for 46 runs, Friend’s United scored 3 points along with 1 bonus points.Click here for Full scorecard
