IMTRAT Team Walk over the Match against Youth11

The match between IMTRAT and Youth11 today saw not a single ball been ball as an official statement from IMTRAT Team said that their team are unable to participate due to unavailabilty of full strength team. This gave Youth11 much need 2 points.
The next league match will be played on 4th November 2006 between Friend's United and Bhutan Times, on 5th November 2006, Bhutan Times yet again takes on Youth 11.

Friend's United Beat Bhutan Telecom by 26 Runs.

Friend’s United Scores vital two points after beating Bhutan telecom today which is played in the Chanlgimithang Cricket Ground, after winning the toss Friend’s united skipper Ugyen Tenzin decided to bat first in bright sunny day, opener Sanjivian and Phub Dorji worked the ball in singles and two’s for their 20 odd partnership, Pema Wangchuk then send back Snajivian after scoring 7 runs, to introduce Damber Singh gurung in the Middle, he couldn’t last long as Pema Wangchuk struck once more for a simple catch to short cover. Tshering Dorji along with Phub Dorji add 20 mores runs when Checnho Dorji struck to send back Phub Dorji, usual opening batsmen Ugyen Dorji walk into middle when the score was 55 on the board, he couldn’t do much to the score and was run out, as the middle order batsmen collapsed.

Tshering Dorji along with Tenzin played brilliant shot to put the score above 100 runs on the board, when the partnership of the tow was going well, Bhutan Telecom Spinner Jigme Singye bowled him for 40 runs, 10 short of Maiden Half Century, Tail enders Tshering Tashi had a real good time with the bat as he smashed 16 runs from Thinley Tenzin over, equally match by Tenzin for his Brilliant 28 runs. Friend’s United were all for 193 runs in 39.5 over.Bhutan Telecom Fielding was not at the best as there was too many Miss Field all over the ground and the Extras. Their bowlers haven’t learnt the basic idea to control the wide and no ball which cost them the match.

As Bhutan Telecom opening batsmen skipper Dorji and Jigme Singye walk into the field for the chase, Friend’s United opened the bowling attack with Fast Bowler Ugyen Dorji and Seamer Jigme N Norbu, Ugyen Dorji struck in the first over as he sent Dorji wicket bails flying down the fine leg. Jigme N Norbu after bowling one over have to pull out from the attack due to hamstring, Kencho operated from other end to take the crucial wicket of Jigme Singye in his second over to boost the confidence in the Friend’s United players, Pema Wangchuk the danger batsmen when he is on song could turn the match into their favor walk in as Both the openers departed. Once again Ugyen Dorji struck for the Friend’s United as he sent back Pema Wangchuk to pavilion without bothering much the scoreboard. Shiva and Supprit added 60 runs partnership as the bowler couldn’t maintain their bowling line, when the spinner Skipper Ugyen Tenzin and Damber Singh Operated from both the end, both the batsmen attacked the spinner to increase the run rates, Supprit was caught at point of Damber Bowling to break the partnership. Shiva too fell cheaply to Tenzin when medium pace were introduce, Seamer Jigme N Norbu finished with three wickets with the crucial wicket of Thinley Tenzin, when the partnership between him and Kencho Norbu was cruising towards the Victory. At the fall of 9th wicket Bhutan Telecom were 26 runs short of victory from 4 over when Skipper Ugyen Tenzin walk himself to all out Bhutan Telecom for 168 runs, Friend’s United won by 26 runs. Match Reports: IMTRAT v/s Bhutan Telecom

The Second week of Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006 saw a draw match due to the rain between Bhutan Telecom and IMTRAT played at Thimphu Cricket Ground on 22nd October 2006, as the match was started late due to unavoidable weather condition, IMTRAT after winning the toss elected to bat first in sunny day, their openning batsmen started well in the beginning of the innings as Telecom Bowler didn't bowl to line and length and conceding too many extras as well.

IMTRAT batsmen had tough time later on when Telecom skipper dorji introduce spinner jigme singye and Thinley tenzin, jigme singye trap two IMTRAT lbw to let their batsmen go on back foot and on other end thinley tenzin bowled out few IMTRAT batsmen to all out them for 141 runs.
Telecom opening batsmen dorji and jigme singye were working hard for the runs all over the park when rain interrupted after 5th overs to send all the players back to dressing room. Rain continued thereafter disallowing the match to continue and eventually Umpire Tshering Dorji and Tobgay Wangchuk to abandon the match. Both the team were awarded 1 point each for the draw. Telecom Skipper Dorji was disheartened by the draw as he was hoping for yet another win.

Nail Biting Finish for Friend's United Club

A nail biting finished saw Friend's united club beat Youth 11 yesterday in Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006 by 1 wicket, As the rain continued from yesterday night till the match started at 1:30 Pm in the Afternoon, players and official have to do everything from using foam to soak up the pitch and applying saw dust in run up area. At the start of the match rain stopped and after winning the toss Youth 11 opted to bat first in wet condition, Friend's united club opener Ugyen Dorji Scalped Sonam Tobay for duck in his first over, at the other end Kencho bowled superbly and took wickets in each overs. Youth 11 batsmen’s struggle to find the gap as bowler didn't give any room to score shot

There were few catches drop in the field but when off spinner the then skipper Ugyen Tenzin and Damber Singh Gurung were introduce, wickets fell overs afater overs to all out Youth 11 82 runs in 21 overs.
When Friend's United opening batsmen went to chase mere score of 82 runs, Youth 11 bowler did put them into pressure as ball was moving both ways after pitching, Youth 11 sent back Tobgay wangchuk back to pavillion when the score is Nil on the board, Tshering dorji was run out shortly to Introduce Damber Singh Gurung in the field as dejected Friend's United players watch their reliable players walks back to pavillion without bothering the score. Ugyen Dorji and Damber singh Gurung put on 76 runs partnership for 2nd wickets to take the team to victory, Both the batsmen played sensible cricket waiting for loose ball and leaving the good ball alone.

Ugyen Dorji feel cheaply when the score was 72 on the board to introduce Dasho Thinley W Dorje to the wicket, Youth 11 fought back to dismiss Damber Singh Gurung when they need just 11 runs to win, Sonam Tobgay bowl suprebly to dismiss tow batsmen to put pressure on the friend's united club, wickets tumble at striker end as Dasho Thinley W Dorje watch helpless from non striker end. Tsherin Tashi, the 9th Batsmen negotiate the last ball faced to finish the over, at the begenning of 21st over, Dasho Thinley W Dorje hits four to level the score and a relief in Friend's United Club, a wide next ball gives Friend's United Club a win by one wicket to earn valuable 2 points in rain out Match.

Match Preview (Friend united club Vs Youth 11)

In the second match of the Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006, Friend's United Club takes on Youth 11 on saturday 21st October 2006. Both the team were thrill to take againist each other this year as Friend's United Club defeted Youth 11 last year encounter during BCCB knock out tournament won by IMTRAT. Friend's United Club have the most experienced players in Ugyen Tenzin the skipper along with Jigme N Norbu, Damber Sing Gurung the National Senior Captian with Tshering Dorji, the vice-captain. Fast Bowler Ugyen Dorji is likely to be star of the match both with the bat as well as with the ball. Youth 11 have good players in Dorji Dakpa, Sonam Tobgay and Tashi who are the current national players to represent Bhutan in Recently Concluded ACC trophy in Malaysia. A news report from Youth 11 said that they are really looking forward for revenge and would do anything to win the match.

Motithang School Are Under-15 School Canvas ball Cricket Champion

Motithang School Emerge the Champion of month long Under-15 School Canvas Cricket tournament played today in the Changlimithang Cricket Ground by beating Yangchenphu School by 8 wickets.Motithang School after winning the toss elected to field taking crucial wicket of Yangchenphu Skipper Kencho Norbu who was bowled out for golden duck, motithang bowler bowled with heart out to credit them with brilliant catches and fielding in the field to all out Yangchenphu school for 64 runs.Motithang in reply reached the target in 11 overs, skipper sanjivian played brilliantly for his knock of 36 to take his team to victory. Jubliant Motithang school players rush to the ground after pema thinley hit the winning runs to celebrate their victory against yangchenphug.


Bhutan Cricket Honorary Treasurer, Mr Ugyen Tenzin was the chief guest for the match,prizes and certificate were awarded to the winner and runner's up.A news report from Bhutan Cricket said that the under-15 school tournament was huge success to credit the organising committe with keen interest showen by the schools.

ZImdra Vanaspati Cup 2006, Match Reports

Zimdra Vanaspati cup 2006 kicked off today with Bhutan Telecom taking on Bhutan Times some tricks, dorji the skipper of telecom with his trade mark cuts shot snared the 37 valubale runs for his team, pema's , after winning the toss, Bhutan Times opted to field first, the weather was perfect for batting which bhutan telecom captilize on putting a huge total of 232 runs on the board. Both the opener were selective at playing the shot at the begenning of the innings when the ball was doing field to score 37 valuable runs for the team and pema wangchuk brilliant 41 runs from 43 balls saw some beautiful cover drive and pull shot toward mid wicket area,



When Bhutan Times opening batsmen walk into the field, their mind was set for quick fire in the early innings but both the opener couldn't resist to give their team a good start to be sent back to pavilion without ticking the score, Bhutan telecom bowler showed thier experience in pema, who has tour with Bhutan National Team to Delhi in 2004 to grab 4 vital wickets earning him the man of the match award along with 41 runs under his belt.Bhutan Times were all out for 61 runs in 16th overs, bhutan telecom won by 171 runs.

ZIMDRA VANASPATI CUP, 2006 KICK OFF TOMORROW


The Zimdra Vanaspati Cup, 2006 Super league tournament organised by Bhutan Cricket will kick off tomorrow at Thimphu Cricket ground in Changlimithang where Bhutan Times takes on Telecom United Club, this is the first time that Bhutan Cricket is organising such league tournament where the Champion will be judge based on the points scored after league tournament, 5 teams are participating and will conclude on the 18th November 2006.The match will starts at 9:00 Am in the morning and will consistute of 40 Overs a inning.

In meantime the under-15 school canvas cricket tournament final will be played on the 15th October 2006 between Yangchenphug School and Motithang high School. Dasho Ugen Tshecphu Dorje, honoble Vice-President of Bhutan Cricket will be the guest for the final match. Please walk into changlimithang stadium to witness the exciting final.

Bhutan in strong group for the Asian Cricket Council Under-15 Challenge Cup 2006 to be held in Thailand from December 14-23, 2006. Bhutan Prepares for Asian Cricket Council Under-15 Plate Division Tournament.

As Bhutan gears up for yet another Asian Cricket Coucil under-15 Plate Division Tournament to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 13th December -22nd December 2006, two year ago it was an disappointment when Bhutan team were not granted visa from the host country, UAE. The success of under-15 School cricket tournament in Thimphu with the final match due on 15th october 2006 saw 45 under-15 potential players chosen from 9 participating school who will go vigorous training which started from 5th October 2006, Damber Sing Gurung, the coach said that training will be very tough as the boys are mentally and physically unfit, the training schedule includes of net practice, fielding, match practice and fitness. The final 14 players will be selected later by this month end or 1st week of November. A news report from Bhutan Cricket said that the team will perform well in this tournament as there are few experienced players in Jigme Singye, the flaymboyance, elegent Kencho Norbu and speedster Thinley Jamtsho and few other talented players.The other countries participating are Brunei, China, Iran, Maldives, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.The top Two teams from this tourament will be promoted to participate in the Elite Division of the next Under-15 Tournament.

Yangchenphu and Motithang School in the Final.

Yangchenphu and Motithang School are in the final of the Under-15 Cricket tournament which will be played on the 15th October 2006,

Yangchenphu beat Chamgzamtok school by 67 runs after they were put to bat first after Chamgzamtok school won the toss, they put on 113 runs for loss of 4 wickets with Skipper Kencho Norbu top scoring with 28 runs.Chamgzamtok opening bowler couldn't restrict yangchenphu batsmen from scoring runs with easy singles all around.They conceeded 38 extras to add the yangchenphu total. Yangchenphu bowler fired with quick wickets early overs to put Chamgzamtok Batsmen on back foot, Kencho Norbu bowled superbly taking hat trick in his last overs eventually taking 6 overs in his allocated 4 overs to finish his figure with 6 wicktes for 4 runs to bag the man of the match award.

Motithang Vs Lungtenzampa.
It has been predicted to be the match of the tournament as experienced Motithang and Lungtenzampa school fight for the place in the final, after winning the toss, Motithang skipper Sangayjivan didn't hesitate to put the opposing team to bat first, his decision was not suprised as his opening bowler Sangay Subba sent back Jigme Singye to Pavilion without scoring a run.Mothithang players were jubliant when sangay subba struck
again to dismiss Thinley Jamtsho for 18 runs, wickets fell in quick succession for lungtenzampa school eventually all out for mere 44 runs on the board, Umesh gurung took 4 wickets for 7 runs equally compliment by pema thinley's 3 wickets for 6 runs.Chasing a target of 44, motithang opening batsmen played sensible, thier runs came mostly from the blade of Sangayjivan bat who top scored with 20 runs, As lungtenzampa bowler tired thier best to take wickets, luck seems to sway from them as Motithang batsmen steered home with a great victory in 16th overs.








Mr Roger Binny the Development Officer of Asian Cricket Council and Bhutan Cricket Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jigme N Norbu witness the match which was a big boost for the young cricketer.

Under-15 School Canvas Cricket Tournament Semi final Kicks off today with Yangchenphu School Taking on Changzamtog School today at 10 :00 am in morning, Later in The afternoon another semi final between Motithang Higher Secondary School will takes on Lungtenzampa which will be the match of the under-15 tournament. As the Thimphu Festival Holiday comes to end, the cricket has something to cheer with the arrival of Asian Cricket Development Officer Mr. Roger Binny on 5 days country assigment, he worked with under-15 school childern yesterday morning and had a light session with senior players later in the afternoon. His presence was felt by the children as they were fortunate to have a great world cup winner to share his experience.
